We all need to have a home based business! 11/17/2009
Facinating article written in 2001 and still holds true today. ![]() If You Don't Have a Home-Based Business, Start One Today! The last decade may have been a decade of tremendous corporate profits and economic growth, but for the vast majority of North Americans, the 90's were a dismal, uphill climb. And many economists believe that this new millennium won't be getting better any time soon. Why? Changing business and government attitudes are the reason. There has seemingly been more anti-business legislation in the last decade than in any other this century. Stronger employment and labor laws, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Comprehensive Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA, which includes mandating health insurance for workers for a period of time after they leave employment), safety laws, much tougher laws for discharging workers, more liabilities for lawsuits, Family Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (which is creating immense numbers of lawsuits), along with higher minimum wages and fringe benefits. Just reading this list is exhausting. While these acts have beneficial and protective aspects, they have also encouraged businesses to move their facilities. That "sucking sound" popularized by Ross Perot is not just down to Mexico, but elsewhere as well. The result has been a dramatic loss of heavy industry in the U.S. The young and the middle-aged alike are realizing that their dream of "having a job with a company forever" is an illusion. Companies have been downsizing, rightsizing, and capsizing for some time now, and they continue to do so-more now than ever before. Even the federal and state governments are getting into the act with layoffs and attrition of jobs. In addition to all this uncertainty and mutual lack of loyalty between companies and employees, even the workers who do keep their jobs have no guarantee of promotions due to the shrinking number of management positions. These circumstances aggravate the already tryingly long commutes in rush hour traffic and increasingly typical frustrated boss-spelled backwards, that double S-O-B. Finally, if all this isn't bad enough, under recent tax laws employees are shafted more than ever with limits and thresholds for their employee deductions and higher social security tax limits. This results in more couples working than ever before and, on many occasions, working more than one job. It is now almost impossible to have only one job in the family and make ends meet! Today, many households need three incomes just to survive. Sadly, even having more than one job does not produce any major positive effect on most people's bank accounts. Why? Because of tax laws. This was well illustrated in 1994 by Jane Bryant Quinn in her Woman's Day article on "How to Live on One Salary." Where The Money Goes Ms. Quinn's example assumed that a man was earning $40,000 per year. His wife (we will call her Lori) wasn't working. They had more month than money. (Sound familiar?) Lori subsequently got an administrative job for $15,000 per year. You would think this would improve the family's financial situation, but when Ms. Quinn examined the economics of getting this extra income, the results were startling! Lori had to pay federal and state taxes on her new income. Since they filed jointly, the family's combined income was what established their tax bracket. She paid $4,500 in new taxes, most of which was non-deductible, for federal and state income tax. Lori had social security withheld from her paycheck at the rate of 7.65 percent, which amounted to an additional nondeductible amount of $1,148 being extracted from her salary. She also had to commute to work 10 miles a day round trip, which is probably conservative for most people. This resulted (in 1995) in nondeductible commuting costs of $696. Lori also had some child care expenses, which give a partial tax credit. Ms. Quinn figured that the amount spent over and beyond the tax credit was $4,250 per year. Lori also ate out each day with colleagues, spending an average of $5 per day, five days a week. This results in a nondeductible expense of $1,250 per year. ( I would love to know where she ate for only $5!) Now that Lori has a job, she has to have professional clothing, this means a hefty dry cleaning bill. Ms. Quinn assumed that Lori's increased expenses here amounted to an extra $1,000 per year, nondeductible, of course. Finally, with both spouses working, Lori wasn't in the mood to cook dinner every night. They bought more convenience foods and ate out more frequently. This resulted in increased food costs of a nondeductible $1,000 per year in minimum. Add it all up and Lori's take home pay was a paltry $1,156 a year, for which she had to put up with a daily commute, an unpleasant boss, and corporate hassles. No wonder more and more people are starting home-based businesses. In fact, there are currently an estimated 30 million people working from their homes. This number is expected to more than triple, to 97 million, by the year 2010, and to keep on growing. This has become and will continue to be one of the greatest mass movements in the U.S. Why a Home-Based Business Makes So Much "Cents" There are many reasons why so many people are favoring home-based over traditional business. There is no commute (unless you have a really big home), no boss, little if any chance of lawsuits, much lower overhead, no employees, (or few), and far fewer government restrictions. In fact, many of the laws previously cited don't apply to small firms with few or no employees. It is for these reasons, according to Entrepreneur magazine, that 95 percent of home-based businesses succeed in their first year and achieve an average income of $50,250 per year with many earning much more. There are really two sets of tax laws in this country. One is for employees, and it allows deductions for individual retirement accounts, 401(k)s (if you have one set up by your company), interest and property taxes on your home (which some in Congress want to do away with ), and charity. Then there are the laws for home-based business people who conduct their business either full-time or part-time. They can deduct, with proper documentation ,their house, their spouse, and even children (by hiring them), their business vacations, their cars, and their food with colleagues. They can also set up a pension plan that makes any government plan seem paltry by comparison. For Lori-and for you - the meaning of all this is simple: Lori earned $15,000 in salary as an employee, but took home only $1,156. She could have netted the entire $15,000 had she earned it in a home-based business! This is an increase of almost 13 times her take-home pay as an employee. Notice that Lori is not spending dramatically more money than she is currently spending. She would eat out anyway, go on trips and drive her car the same as before. By having a home-based business, however, many of their expenses become deductible. This concept is known as "redirecting expenses." With a legitimate home-based business, she can now deduct some of the expenses that she is incurring anyway. Renegade Strategy: If you don't have a home-based business, start one! In addition to all the benefits mentioned above, Congress will subsidize you while you are growing your home-based business. If your home-based business produces a tax loss in the first year or so, you can use that tax loss against any other income you have. It can be used against wages earned as an employee, dividends, pensions, or interest income-or you can use the loss against your spouse's earnings if you file a joint return. If the tax loss exceeds all your income for this year, no problem. You can carry back the loss two years and get a refund from the IRS for up to the last two years of income taxes paid, or you can carry over the loss twenty years. You read it right: You can offset up to 20 years of income! Here's an example: Mike earns $50,000 in a job with the government. If he starts a home-based business that generates a tax loss of 10,000, he only pays tax on $40,000. Renegade Tip: You can never lose a properly documented business deduction as long as you run your legitimate business like a business with a bona fide business purpose and have an honest expectation of profit. Make also sure that all your expenses are ordinary and necessary and reasonable as noted in our Tax Advantage and Tax Strategy Program Renegade Strategy: Get LUCK-Labor Under Correct Knowledge. Can You Succeed In a Home-Based Business? Research has constantly shown that it is rarely the business that determines success or failure. It is usually the business owner. Why does one person succeed and another fail at the same business? Two words-Knowledge and Action. Some people want the benefits of having their own business, but they don't take action. The result is business failure. Then there are the people who are always working. They take action but still fail. The reason is that they are not taking the correct actions, the knowledgeable actions, that will bring the desired results. Again, business failure. It's like drilling for oil. If you set up a drilling rig in your back yard, it is going to fail at producing oil unless your back yard is in Texas or Alaska. The same rig in a good field will produce a gusher, because it was placed where oil was known to exist. The point is that most people who get excited about starting their own home-based business do so without all the necessary knowledge. Consequently, many people quit before they acquire, through experience, the knowledge they need, without realizing that they are getting substantial tax breaks. This leads to another strategy.... Renegade Strategy: Learn to duplicate the success of others. Duplicating the strategy of others is much quicker and more effective than going to the school of hard knocks. It is also known as modeling, which is well-illustrated by the way The McDonalds Corporation blazed a trail to success that many have since followed. In the early 1950's McDonald's and other start-up companies discovered that they could grow many times faster than the conventional firms through franchising. Instead of the company investing millions of dollars to build new stores, they let independent franchises do it for them. It seemed like a great idea, but at first no one figured out how to make it succeed on a consistent basis; therefore, the media attacked relentlessly and continually. News articles featured destitute families who had lost their life savings through franchising schemes. Virtually every state attorney general in the U.S. condemned the new marketing method. Some congressmen even tried to outlaw franchising entirely. Over the years, however, Ray Kroc and his management team at McDonald's developed a turnkey franchise business team at McDonald's franchise. The newfound success-from the system-turned public perception of franchising around. Today, virtually every franchise business models-to some extent-the franchise business system created by McDonald's, making franchising one of the most respected ways of doing business in the world. Modeling is simply learning what other successful people have done to achieve success in a specific area, and then doing the same thing. Someone said that "education is the shortcut to experience." With modeling, you literally leverage your own learning with the collective years of learning through experience of many others. Modeling the success of others saves both time and money and reduces frustration and stress. The light at the end of the tunnel, for you and millions of others today, is the financial opportunity that starting your own business offers. If you have one going already, then make sure you are enjoying the many financial advantages to which your smart choice entitles you. The tax advantage alone can make a home-based business the single best financial move you could ever make. Sandy Botkin CPA. Esq. Copyright 2001, all rights reserved NEVER COLD CALL AGAIN! 11/14/2009

Ok, so by now you probably realize that I just like posting and chatting about whatever crosses my mind or is shared with me or that I learned...BUT always with the intention of helping and inspiring and wanting everyone to be the best of themselves and have all the opportunities our great America has to offer. I have been told before...many times...that I worry too much about everyone else and that my emotional level is far beyond "singer song writer sensitive," but that is just me. I hope you feel this deep in your heart and soul too. Like for you, so many emails come through that you just don't feel the urge to pass on or to even open. This one I just had to share. ![]() If you are new to the network marketing industry and are having a bit of trouble ramping up your business, then maybe you are trying to do it all alone. The greatest thing about network marketing is that you are building a successful business with the help of other people who want for your success. The network marketing industry can provide you not only with time freedom and financial security, but with relationships for life. Tap into those relationships with your up-line, your down-line and with the many available tools, so that you are not marketing your business alone, but are relying on the expertise of those who built their business before you. Here are 10 reasons why successful network marketing companies provide affordable tools to their distributors. 1. Increase Activity in the Field The activity of the distributors will determine much of the success of the Company. Tools increase activity and ensure that your distributors are constantly telling the company's story. 2. Provide a Message Tools deliver the Company's message perfectly-time and time again. Remember when you were a child and you told a secret to someone and, of course, that secret got passed from one friend to another only to come back to you completely altered than when you first told it? This does not happen when the exact same message is being delivered every time. 3. Greater Productivity Tools are the fastest way to reach a large amount of people. Leveraging tools will help your distributors build large and successful organizations. If you purchase 100 CDs at $1 each and distributed them to 100 people and then each of your distributors (let's say five of your distributors) did the same thing and then each of their 5 distributors did the same thing, you would have leveraged your $100 worth of CDs 30 times! That means your advertising budget was leveraged to $3100 to build your organization. 4. Increase Retention If you provide a system to your organization and teach them how to use the tools, you will generate loyalty, commitment and greater retention. An educated distributor and/or customer are more likely to continue with your company long term. 5. Proven Success It's simple-tools work. Many powerful industry leaders have built their businesses using tools: newspapers, brochures, books, CDs, DVDs, etc. Find the tool that is "right" for you and the person you want to bring into your business or share the product with. Many leading distributors share their experience in order to help others in their organizations and throughout the company. Learn from them. 6. Add Credibility Tools provide instant credibility with personal success stories, research from experts, and detailed information about your company and the product. 7. Simplify Your Company's Presentation Tools allow your distributors to pass along the same powerful message every single time in a concise and accurate presentation. 8. Duplicate Easily Duplication in direct selling is essential. Tools provide a system and a routine for distributors that are simple to duplicate. When a company makes it easy for its distributors to learn and duplicate the message and how to build the business, the rate of success drastically increases. 9. Rely on the Message Not everyone is a great presenter, but tools can make anyone a great sponsor. This helps to rely on the message and not being the messenger. By having tools to be the messenger, everyone can build a business in the network marketing industry. 10. Enhance Your Sponsoring Efforts Tell your story in volume. Imagine the power of having thousands of newspapers, brochures, and CDs out in communities worldwide telling your story. The more people who see the tools, the more who will be interested in your Company's product and opportunity. As discussed in #3, leveraging the tools, which leverages your sponsoring, builds your organization more effectively and more often, faster. To build your business with greater ease, find the tools that work best for you and that you are comfortable with sharing to potential customers or business builders that you would like to be a part of your organization. Wishing you great success in your business and remember...NEVER GIVE UP! BRICK AND MORTAR VS. HOME BASED BUSINESS 10/31/2009
![]() As a child, all I ever wanted to do was grow up, fall in love, have a family and be a stay-at-home mom. No other option had ever entered my mind. Yes, I went to school. Yes, I excelled in the secretarial field. I was even hired “off the street” as the secretary to the Vice President of a major clothing company. Not too shabby of a feat for an 18 year old! I was VERY good at typing (140 words per minute on an IBM Correctible Selectric!) and my shorthand skills ran rings around any other secretary that I knew! Ok, so that was in the mid ‘70s and I am not sure they even produce “shorthand tablets” anymore. But the corporate scene did not thrill me at all. Although I did my best, I just was never really “there” in mind and spirit. Well I did get married, had four children and considered my life idyllic as a stay-at-home mom. So fast forward 30 years…my husband was and still is in the corporate world, but through the years added additional income to our family by owning and operating a small hobby store with his brother. So besides the everyday grind of a 9 – 5, there were the nights and weekends of building that business. Not to mention the Toy Shows we worked and traveled to on the weekends with one, two or even all four kids in tow. It was not easy and put a heavy strain on the marriage and the kids sometimes. Besides the time it took to develop, there was the expense of the overhead and inventory, the time consuming paperwork and employees. Well, the employees were family members, but still trying to coordinate and count on everyone was not an easy task. I must say the extra money afforded us many things other young families did not have…a paid off home, a small condo on a lake, a boat, new cars, and the kids not wanting for anything. But it was all at the expense of trading time for money. When you have all of those things are just things unless you have the time to enjoy them. After the many years of doing that, but always keeping my mind and options open for something else to come along, my mom had introduced me to the Direct Selling Industry. Yep, we got to buy a ton of merchandise and schlep it to other people’s home to put on presentations…through rain, or snow or the gloom of night! Mom was a great presenter and I was an awesome “roadie,” but that really is work. Along came the wonders of Network Marketing. I had been introduced to a product that was suppose to aide me in my few discomforts of an aging body. I was desperate to try anything, so I did and much to my surprise I was beginning to feel better. I never really looked at the Network Marketing Industry and believed it to be a sort of a scam. But BOY WAS I WRONG. It was actually nothing I was doing different then hauling all of that merchandise around and sharing what the merchandise could do to change the “feel” of their home, but this time all I had to do was to build a business was use a little bit of the product and share with others how they two can build a home based business do the same thing. Without having to constantly buy things I didn’t want, drag them all over the place “doing shows” and then ordering, receiving, packing and delivering! I believe that Network Marketing is without a doubt one of the few industries in which an individual can become financially independent and build a large sales organization with very little overhead, no paperwork, no inventory and no employees, when compared to 'brick and mortar' alternatives. What is the greate thing, is that now I realize we could have had all of those things with building a business in only a few hours a week leaving the rest of the time to enjoy them and the family. Many people who begin a Network Marketing business forget the importance of the word 'network'. The path to success in this business model is to build a team organization and you receive commissions for building that team and introducing them to the business opportunity. There are a few different terms for this role as you build your business, but the one that is widely accepted is Sponsor. You are sponsoring people into the business opportunity. This type of business model is a numbers game, pure and simple. You have to keep expanding your network, assessing the people in it and deciding if someone is worth approaching. It is a people helping people business. However, not all people will understand or even accept the concept of Network Marketing so you must learn to accept the “No’s” and move on to the next. Remember, you are building your business with like-minded people who you do not have to convince that the business opportunity you are offering will give them the things they desire. You can build your network either offline or online or maybe a mixture of both. The process normally involves the person you are sponsoring agreeing to buy the product you are representing. This then gives them the right to market the product/service they purchased and receive a commission on a sale and/or receive a commission for each person who decides to become a business owner doing the same as you. The key to success is your marketing approach. Many people starting in network marketing have never actually been involved in sales or marketing before. This is where the quality of training offered by the opportunity is the key to your and their success. What you have to realize and must know is that you are NOT marketing the product. You are marketing YOU. If the business opportunity or your potential Sponsor cannot demonstrate to you they are experienced at training you how to market you then you are in trouble. You can still make a suitable income selling the products of a company - that's direct sales as opposed to network marketing. However, the real money is in leverage. You create a team of motivated business owners who can each then go on to create a team of motivated business owners themselves. So, yes, if you love the product that is being introduced to you and you only want to sell the product as retail that is ok, but again I will repeat; the real money and road to time freedom and financial security is in the leverage of people who understand that being in this business is just taking the product and finding a few key other people to take the product and for them to find a few key people. Remember, it is not about selling the product, but rather it is about people helping people build their team. If you have 8-10 hours a week to devote to building your business, if you have a desire to help people achieve their dreams, if you are willing to commit for a minimum of six months to learn how to build your business, then network marketing may be the perfect business for you. IF YOU WOULD LIKE MORE INFORMATION ON HAVING THE TIME TO DO WHAT YOU WANT, WHEN YOU WANT AND HAVE THE MONEY TO DO IT.... 10 CRITERIA FOR A HOME-BASED BUSINESS 10/30/2009
Are you one of the many looking for ways to add extra income in this tough economy? Were you "downsized" and need to replace your income? Or are you just tired of the corporate scene and not getting appreciated or paid what you are really worth? Maybe you have thought before how wonderful it would be to start your own business, but just didn't have the capital to begin. Or maybe you had the money, but didn't like the idea of all of the overhead, inventory or employee problems that come with the "brick and mortar" business, not to mention the hours upon hours of building that business. Basically, "buying" a job! Starting a home-based business just may be easier than you might think and network marketing may be the answer you have been searching for. Here are 10 important considerations before deciding which company to pursue for your new career in the home-based business industry. 1. Is the Company Stable? A stable company means that the company promoting the product has to be a debt free company in existence for a period of many years. Avoid "here today, gone tomorrow" companies that try to sell the concept of getting in at the top to make a huge income. Look for companies that have been consistently growing. 2. Look to the Founders The best way to judge the stability and future of the company is to look at the past of the founders of the company. Are they new to the network marketing industry or have they been involved in the industry before. Better still, if they have been actively involved for years and have gained substantial experience in order to serve their new found company and its distributors in the highest and most ethical manner. Are there at least three founders? Is their belief system based on heart and not on themselves. Do they give back to the community? To the world? 3. Is there product in demand? Is the product of the company a "category creating" product? In other words, is it readily available elsewhere. Category creating products are products that the company is the first to bring to market. That is very important and creates a high demand and a unique business opportunity, which means the products cannot be readily found. 4. Can it produce a good income for me? Study the compensations plans. Not all are created equal or even fair. There are many, such as: bianary, matrix, and unilevel. Read the fine print. Some companies offer "up to" 50%, when in fact, it is more like 27-32% when the compensation plan is used to full advantage. It is better to find a company that does not have "breakage" in their plans. That is not good and will actually hinder your income. A fair and just compensation plan states a 50-50 split amongst the company and the distributors. Also look for Dynamic Compression and a Global Bonus. 5. Is the product affordable? The end customer who purchases the product should find value for the price they are paying. It does not matter to the customer how many levels of up line are being paid commissions. The business opportunity should come second to the product value. If the same product is available elsewhere for a greatly reduced price, then it would be difficult selling such a product. However, remember in consideration #3 that you are looking for a "category creating" product and should not be available elsewhere! 6. Will the product produce repeat sales? Depending on which type of company you want to represent and offer their products, you must find highly consumable products to offer. A one time sale will produce only a one time income. Products that keep producing repeated income is exactly what will provide you with the main benefit of a network marketing business, and that is residual income. For example, if you sell an ebook information product you will have a one time profit from each client, where as if you were to sell monthly membership access to several ebooks that are updated every month, then you have an income that will continue every month as long as the member remains subscribed. Highly successful products in the network industry are health and wellness products, beauty products and daily consumables such as coffee and even chocolate 7. Does the company provide a strong back-end marketing system? The marketing system for the company and the product should be able to clearly and professionally present the product to the potential client. The tools that you will need to use to build your business should be offered affordably and not be an income source for the main company. The backend system on your business website for the product you promote should be able to present the product to your client, follow up on leads, provide statistics and track the downline of your clients. 8. Does the company provide training? It is very important to have a team that can guide you and train you and help you build your business. Network marketing is a people business and people helping people is how you become successful. There should be ample availability to webinars, meetings, conference calls and always someone answering the phone at corporate should you have any questions. Are the training tools they offer readily available and affordable? 9. Is this a product you will use with confidence and be comfortable promoting? Yes, there are some people who can sell ice to an eskimo, and doesn't use ice themselves, but would make for a very rare and successful home-based network marketing business. It is very important to be a product of the product and have a very high belief in the product and the company. Your confidence, sincerity and enthusiasm will shine through and people will naturally want what you have. 10. You want to build a home-based business. It really is all about you. It is about selling yourself and representing a product and a company. People buy into people and want what we have if we are friendly, knowledgeable, and offer value to our everyday lives. You decided to treat a home-based business as a business and not as a hobby. Most network marketing businesses have a very small start up fee. Usually around $35! It is very important that you treat it the same as if it cost you $100,000 or even a million dollar business, because that little $35 can truly begin your million dollar business right out of the comfort of your own home. If all of these considerations are satisfied, they you are on your way to a wonderful new lifestyle and the comfort and security of building a residual income can provide. In conclusion, you should look for an affordable, "category creating" company and product line that produces repeat sales from a stable company with a good income potential and excellent backend systems founded by people who have a very strong background in the network marketing industry. Good luck in your search and I am here to help if you need any. Andrea Article from CareerBuilder.com ![]() Two strangers meet at a networking function. One person speaks up first. "Hi, I'm Laura Mulford," she says, offering her hand to her partner. "Raj Babu," he responds with a handshake. "Nice to meet you." The whole exchange takes less than four seconds. Ten minutes later, neither person can remember the other's name. Ah, names. Some people have gift for remembering them. But for far too many of us, they go in one ear and right out the other. Unfortunately, referring to everyone as "hey" or "you" can be suicide when it comes to networking. "In networking, names are the good stuff," say Anne Barber and Lynne Waymon, co-authors of "Make Your Contacts Count" (Amacom). "It will be mighty difficult for you to initiate a relationship with someone if you don't know that person's name." If remembering others' names is downright impossible for you, try out these tips from Barber and Waymon: 1. Repeat the first name or confirm the last name. Simply saying, "It's nice to meet you, Chuck" or "and your last name was...?" will help you register the name and give it a better chance to implant itself into your memory. 2. Ask a question or make a comment about the person's name. "Nice to meet you, Julia. My college roommate's name was Julia, so I'll have no problem remembering you." 3. Ask the person to spell his or her name. "Abby, do you spell your name with a 'y' or with an 'ie'?" 4. Associate the name with a picture in your mind. If you meet a CEO named Arthur, visualize him as King Arthur with the knights of the Round Table. "Some people like this technique; others say it confuses them," warn Barber and Waymon. "Only use it if it's helpful." 5. Ask how the person got his name. "Savannah, were you named after the city?" 6. Tell the person what you have heard about him. "I heard you organized this whole event, Peter." 7. Keep your energy level high. Let your body language and tone of voice signal that you are honestly trying to learn the other person's name and teach her yours. According to Barber and Waymon, people say this is flattering. 8. Always say the person's name again as you leave her. "It was good to meet you, Jen." 9. Handle forgotten names with grace. No, whining about how bad you are with names is not graceful. Instead, ask a friend to remind you, or if you can recall where you met that person, say "I remember meeting you at the conference in Seattle. I'm Sarah Ansari. Will you tell me your name again?" The person may have forgotten your name too, and will be grateful for your reintroduction. Always remember: making small talk about a person's name may take time, but it could save you embarrassment later on! 2009 U.S. Memory Champion Ron White can teach YOU, or anyone who is willing to spend 10 minutes a day for a month, to accomplish incredible memory feats and reach higher goals! You can learn to give speeches without notes, build relationships by recalling names and faces, recall product knowledge and, for all you students out there, memorize school work in a third of the time while remembering 300% more! Smile and the whole world...wonders what your are thinking!![]() People rarely walk out the door in the morning without taking a quick physical inventory of themselves in the mirror: shirt properly tucked in—check, matching heels—check, smooth shave—check, makeup that is neither reminiscent of circus clowns or dramatic theater—check, as creatures, we humans understand that our outer appearance needs to conform, at least somewhat, to the outside world’s standards. No one wants to see the not-so-attractive us who rolls out of bed with stick-up hair and bad breath, and we can’t blame them—they shouldn’t have to. We are collectively grateful that people display an esthetically pleasing image of themselves for us. However, people’s efforts to be presentable should be more than skin deep. Handsome or beautiful as we may appear after we’ve undergone our daily physical transformation, we sometimes forget to self-check an area of even greater importance. We forget the immense and irrevocable impact of attitude. We show up to a meeting dazzled up in our closet’s finest, the best meeting technology in our briefcase, but we are in a nasty mood. Unfortunately, all the glitz, glamour, and cologne in the world cannot help us. We stink of bad attitude. Whether or not the audience voices it, they can tell, and they are repulsed by us. All the best techniques, the most effective tools, the wit of a presentation—none of those appeal to the men and women listening to a speaker whose internal negativity is contaminating the room. A bad attitude is detrimental for two reasons. 1. Bad attitudes are contagious. Even if we do not voice negative thoughts, they are often perceived at the subconscious level, dispersing themselves until they become a widespread plague. 2. People who are aware of attitude’s highly contagious properties tend to run away the moment they identify negativity, leaving those with bad attitudes with no business associates, followers, or friends. On the flip side, the excellent news is that good attitude has the same attributes. 1. Good attitude is contagious, serving as an uplifting breath of fresh air to all those within a close radius. 2. People are drawn to those who have a good attitude, creating a network of people who don’t even know why they want to be around us. So when we get up in the morning, before we walk out the door, while we make sure that we have fresh smelling breath and that we have applied deodorant, we should also check that we are immersed in the sweet aroma of a positive attitude towards ourselves, others, our business and our life. SMILE....it IS contagious! Andrea :) PERSONAL "CALLING" CARDS 10/09/2009
Everyone is a Professional Something!![]() You may not be a business professional that passes out business cards to associates every day, but how often have you had to go searching for a scrap of paper to scribble your address and phone number on? Years ago when I was a busy, working mom with 4 children to keep track of, I was always being asked for my name and number by other mothers, teachers, friends, etc. That's when I discovered "calling cards." These handy cards are convenient to keep a few in your purse, and they look so much nicer than that scrap of paper you normally pass out. When my kids became teenagers, I got each of them a set of "calling cards" as stocking stuffers for Christmas one year. Each set was personalized with pictures of their favorite sport or activity and they just loved them. Over the years, I've ordered calling cards for friends and family and they have always been a hit. The best prices, quality and design ideas I have found so far has been at Vista Print. Click on the Vista Print coupon above, choose a design, enter your information and place your order! Let your imagination take over and let the world know who you are and what you do. One of my cards STILL proudly just says... Proud "MOM" of Joe, Michelle, Kathryn and Laura. What will yours say? Make EVERY SINGLE DAY a special day. Andrea Another XANGO Addict! 10/07/2009
I shared my experience...![]() I received this email from a friend of mine that was pretty skeptical (oh heck, she is skeptical about EVERYTHING!) when I told her about my business with XanGo. I was one of "those" people who didn't want to let my friends know about me becoming involved in network marketing, but figured once I am a 500K and making $100,000 a month in residual income I figured they would be mad at me for not telling them. So I figured, "I damned if I do and damned if I don't...tell them!" So I knew she just wasn't feeling up to par and told her what I am experiencing with the product and the company. It took her a few weeks to take the plunge and fork over her credit card info to place the order... HERE IS HER EMAIL TO ME. "Hey, (did you finally get your butt out of bed? lol) I wanted to tell you about the XanGo and Eleviv. I have been taking both for a week now and I am starting to feel better. Yesterday was sort of a turning point for me. I was laying in bed last night and realized how much calmer and at ease I felt. Sort of euphoric without any real cares in the world. For the last two days, I've also had a lot of energy and just perky feeling. I went to a festival Saturday and walked around there for about 4 hours. I thought I would wake up sore and tired Sunday, but I didn't.....I actually felt even MORE energetic! Oh, and Mom got into the cold weather baking mode and made FOUR pies yesterday! I ate one small piece and felt satisfied.....didn't need or want more. That nervous-bored eating thing was gone yesterday. At the festival Saturday, I was surrounded by good-smelling food everywhere, but I ate one small rice ball and that was it.....didn't even WANT anything else! I was thinking last night that I need to try dieting again and see if I can't get some of this fat off. Anyway, I am feeling a lot better.......I'm hooked. LOL Don't let me run out!!!!! Love, Shelley" |
